Catch the ferry to Vermont in town. Crossing to Charlotte, Vt. Hike the high peaks, or a variety of easily accessed trails nearby. Take advantage of a day trips to Lake Placid, Burlington, or Montreal or just relax in Essex and be transformed to another time. Pre-civil war Federal and Gothic style homes provide architectural interest.
