Description
Did you ever wish that you could play the banjo? Fulfill that dream by taking lessons from “the best clawhammer banjo player in Delaware” (a quote from my good friend Kevin Justice – Director of the Wilmington Winter Bluegrass Festival). This series of six lessons will be customized to your learning style and musical experience. No excuse if you don’t own a banjo - I will loan you a professional level banjo. I will teach you a basic folk style that combines rhythmic and melodic elements so that you will instantly sound like you are actually playing music. Depending on your progress, we will move from this basic style to one that will allow you to play simple fiddle and folk tunes. If the student desires, I can teach clawhammer or bluegrass (Scruggs) style. Lessons will include discussion about these and other styles of banjo playing and the musicians known for these styles. I will prove to you the truth behind Tony Trischaka’s (the famous bluegrass banjo innovator) observation: every note on a banjo sounds good. I guarantee that these lessons will provide you with a lifetime of musical edification and endless enjoyment.
