Shadow "Day in the Life" of a Politician: with State Representative Ann M. Williams

Description
State Representative Ann M. Williams is currently serving her third term as State Representative of the 11th District on Chicago’s North Side. The district includes the Chicago neighborhoods of West Lakeview, Roscoe Village and Northcenter, as well as parts of Lincoln Park, Lincoln Square and Ravenswood. Representative Williams is a leader in several initiatives, including environmental protection, gun control, and restoring fiscal stability to Illinois; she holds positions as chair of the Green Caucus, chair of the newly formed Renewable Energy and Sustainability Committee, Vice Chair of the Civil Judiciary committee, and the Illegal Gun Trafficking Task force—to name a few.
A day with Representative Ann M. Williams during session in Springfield will allow the student to experience the legislative process first-hand while inside the Capitol. Throughout the day, the student will spend time observing session, visiting legislative offices, and shadowing.
The day will start at 10:00am and conclude around at 4:00 PM.

1:30-2:30 Lunch
2:30 Meeting with constituents or organization
3:30 Wrap up discussion
Job shadowing is an effective and efficient way for a high school junior or senior to gather information when choosing colleges, college programs, and majors!
Special Instructions
The student is responsible for travel to and from Springfield, but lunch will be provided. Please schedule at least two weeks in advance and prepare for a date Wednesday or Thursday now until May 14th.
If a Lane Tech students wins this shadow day their absence from school on the selected date will be considered EXCUSED (per Assistant Principal Mollie Hart).
