Have you ever thought about running for elected office? What better way to find out if public service is for you than by shadowing 32nd Ward Alderman, Scott Waguespack for a day. 


Alderman Waguespack was elected in 2007  and has been "a model for thoughtful independence on the City Council". Your day will begin at 7:00am and will include attending either a City Council meeting or a committee meeting with the Alderman. Alderman Waguespack sits on seven committees including: Finance; Budget and Government Operations; Committees, Rules, and Ethics; Education and Child Development; Housing and Real Estate; Human Relations; and Special Events, Cultural Affairs and Recreation. 


Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.


Job shadowing is an effective and efficient way for a high school junior or senior to gather information when choosing colleges, college programs, and majors!

Special Instructions

Hours 7am - 3pm. Business casual attire. Winning student must arrive at either City Hall or the 32nd Ward office (2657 N. Clybourn) to start their day. Date to be mutually agreed upon.


If a Lane Tech students wins this shadow day their absence from school on the selected date will be considered EXCUSED (per Assistant Principal Mollie Hart).
