What is Circuit Works?

This is a highly effective Interval / Circuit Training workout routine that rotates through a series of stations combining aerobic and weight training exercises.

The aerobic activities employed in our group circuit training sessions include the treadmill, and an assortment of creative cardio routines. The weight training routines incorporate machines, free weights, resistance tubing, and stabilization / core strengthening exercises.

The fitness training routine changes every week to prevent physical plateau and mental boredom.

THE AEROBIC SYSTEM

Activates after 3-5 minutes of constant movement or activity (for example, cardiovascular movements like running, walking and spinning, etc.)

THE ANAEROBIC SYSTEM

Activates immediately for as long as 3 minutes and is only used for short, explosive movements or activities, such as resistance activities ranging from weight training all the way down to lifting a piece of paper or lifting a bottled water to your mouth.

How these concepts are strategically applied in a Circuit Works group session:

Our group circuit training sessions switch from an aerobic cardiovascular exercise to an anaerobic resistance exercise every 1-2 minutes; keeping the body from choosing the energy expenditure system it’s going to use. This confusion forces the body to burn more calories; a process known as the Zig-Zag theory. This activity of switching back and forth from an aerobic cardiovascular system to an anaerobic system is what increases the fat expenditure of the body by more than 500% and continues to burn calories well after the actual exercise is completed.
