Description
This auction item is for a hand painted canvas by CURE Artist Lauren Morris, "Hope".
Lauren visited the emergency room at Scottish Rite for persistent headache and suspected dehydration from a stomach virus, and was shockingly diagnosed with ATRT brain cancer, on March 11, 2014, 2 weeks before her 10th birthday. In the next month, Lauren underwent 4 surgeries (including major brain surgery), 8 physician appointments, and 6 tests in preparation for her treatment. Then Lauren began a 51 week treatment protocol, which included weekly chemotherapy and 2 months of proton radiation in Jacksonville, Florida. Lauren has spent approximately 75% of the last year in the hospital. Despite the unfavorable odds and aggressive nature of this type of cancer, Lauren pressed forward with strength and courage. She maintained all A’s in school and will graduate 5th grade on schedule in May. Lauren's last treatment was on April 10, 2015. Now Lauren is focused on rebuilding her physical strength and praying hard for no recurrence of cancer!
