Picnic in Paradise at Diamond Creek Vineyards, for 6 Guests
--Picnic for 6 guests at Diamond Creek Winery on Diamond Mountain, Napa Valley

--One 1.5L 2012 Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, “Volcanic Hill”

Boots and Al Brounstein founded Diamond Creek Vineyards in the late 1960s. During the next four decades, their tireless energy, hard work and dedication produced a tradition of excellence, creating one of the world’s finest terroir-driven Cabernets honored and cherished by connoisseurs the world over. Diamond Creek Vineyards is California’s first estate winery to produce Cabernet Sauvignon exclusively.

Diamond Mountain neighbor, fellow winemaker, and friend, Dawnine Dyer, will be your host for a perfect picnic at Diamond Creek, at the lake or waterfall -- your choice. Winners will enjoy yummy food in a beautiful location, with other Diamond Mountain wines.

And the piece de resistance for this lot is a Magnum of 2012 Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, “Volcanic Hill”, their 40th Anniversary vintage. The wines from Volcanic Hill tend to be the most explosive and richest of the Diamond Creek cabs, and the longest lived. The winemaker describes these wines as "full bodied, loaded with intense ripe berry fruit, cassis, violets and a smoky richness, finishing with good length and firm tannins." Properly cellared, you can enjoy this wine for another 30 years!

For a taste of some of the other remarkable wines from the Diamond Mountain District, check out the auction lot named “Diamond Mountain District — Big Gems from Napa Valley’s Smallest AVA”. When it comes to Diamond Mountain wines, more is better!

Visionary pioneer Al Brounstein defied modern conventions and planted Bordeaux varietals on then-very-secluded Diamond Mountain, in Calistoga. The three vineyards which comprise Diamond Creek produce a small amount of long-lived wines that are elegant with great depth and richness, and you can taste the differences imparted to the wine by the distinct soils and micro-climates of Diamond Creek Vineyards.
