Kathy Constantine is a self-taught artist who calls herself an art experimenter. She works primarily in acrylic, pastels and mixed media. She uses hand-colored and hand-formed papers, metal foils, computer-drawn or painted images, photography, and more, to create her artwork.

Constantine is particularly drawn to layers, texture, metals, metal foils, and iridescent colors.

She works in abstract, impressionistic, and primitive styles. Her paintings often include figurative birds, animals or human figures.
Constantine’s other work includes jewelry, that has been created from miniaturized images of her artwork; photography; and glass mosaics.

Her work has been accepted into many juried shows, including the Best of the Northwest; Art Port Townsend; and a number of Northwind Arts Center shows, including: the Collage Show, the Spirit of Place show, the Venture to Risk show and the Pieceworks show, where she won a merit award. One of Constantine’s mixed-media collages was selected for publication in Incite: Dreams Realized, a book on mixed-media to be published by North Lights Books in September 2013. She has done presentations about her work and has performed demos and classes for other artists.
