One Hour Voice Lesson($90) + One 45 minute Piano Lesson($70)

VOICE INSTRUCTION

Julia Padilla is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She is a professional, classically trained mezzo-soprano with excellent technique, whose voice is honed to respond as she likes. She has a very good ear and is passionate about singing and teaching voice. “I know what I am doing. I believe singing should be effortless and with good technique you can sing any type of music,” states Ms. Padilla. Though trained to sing opera, she has also performed in various musicals and as a lead singer in a swing band as well. “My technique allows me the freedom and flexibility to move easily throughout my entire range. This is the goal which I strive to impart in working with all of my singers,” Ms. Padilla elaborates.

During a vocal lesson, Julia Padilla and her student focus on building a healthy vocal technique through various exercises, then apply this technique to music. Ms. Padilla works with many students of all ages: children, teenagers, young adults through seniors, beginners through professionals, coaching her students in preparation for various auditions for school musicals, talent shows, and performances in concerts of all genres of music including jazz, rock and roll, blues, and classical. She also relishes her work with those students whose goal is to learn to sing for their own personal pleasure.

Julia Padilla encourages her younger students in particular to begin studying piano simultaneously with voice. Many of her students split an hour lesson between piano and voice, which helps tremendously with reading music, learning theory and becoming an excellent musician.

PIANO INSTRUCTION

Julia Padilla offers piano lessons in her San Rafael home on a beautiful Yamaha baby grand piano. “My students learn how to read music, theory, technique, ear training, sight reading and improvisation. They will also develop a lifelong love of music!”, enthuses Ms. Padilla.
