This Special Edition Barbie was released by Mattel on January 1, 1999 with the following description:

"Millennium Princess™ Barbie® doll is dressed in a magnificent royal blue velvety gown with shimmering organza and silvery glitter lace cascading down the front. A lovely tiara, sparkling necklace, and a "crystal" ball keepsake ornament make her a beautiful way to welcome the year 2000!"

This doll originally sold for $39.98 but is now selling for up to or over $100 to collectors.  Certain to be a much sought-after piece in the future.
