The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, the oldest continually-operating public art museum in the United States, was founded in 1842 by arts patron Daniel Wadsworth. It was the first museum in America to purchase works by Caravaggio, Frederic Church, Joseph Cornell, Salvador Dalí, and Joan Miró, and was the first in the country to exhibit major surveys of works by Italian Baroque masters, Surrealists, and Picasso.
In January 2015 the museum will unveil sleek modern and comtemporary art galleries with works by artists like Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol.
Passes are valid through March 31, 2016.
General admission only, special fees excluded.
