Description

Two floral paintings: one painting is signed, the other unsigned or hidden behind border framing. Frames are painted white. Auctions of similar work from artist sold from $200-600: this lot is for both paintings. Approximate size of paintings 30"x37" and 30"x31"


Artist Info: Mrs. Stone moved to Seattle in 1889. She studied at the University of Washington, Scripps College in Claremont, CA, and with Millard Sheets, John Hubbard Rich, and Ella Shepard Bush. Except for a few years in Los Angeles in the early 1930s, she lived in Seattle until her death on April 20, 1950.


From History Link: Anna B. Stone (1869-1950) was renowned for her floral subjects executed in both a realistic and Modernist style. Born in Dewitt, Iowa, Stone lived most of her adult life in Seattle. She studied at the Boston School of Art, Scripts College in Claremont, California, and the University of Washington. Besides being a Founder of the Women Painters of Washington, she was also an active member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and the National League of American Penwomen.
