Description
Dr. Andrew Baker, COO at Philadelphia Zoo, will lead a tour for up to 10 people of the Rare Animal Conservation Center and PECO Primate Reserve, the Philadelphia Zoo's two primate facilities, as well as the innovative trail system that gives monkeys and lemurs the opportunity to travel far from their usual homes. The Zoo's primate collection includes more than 20 species, among them a number of rarely-exhibited species, including Coquerel's sifaka and the Critically Endangered pied tamarin. Dr. Baker's dissertation work focused on the social ecology of golden lion tamarins in Brazil. He is a former Curatorial Intern at the National Zoo, and has been active in many Association of Zoos and Aquariums programs, e.g. as Chair of the New World Primate Taxon Advisory group.
