This stunning and completely unique necklace features Labradorite 12mm faceted round beads, 7mm smooth round beads, and 30mm by 20mm faceted rectangles.   Additional Bali style pewter beads provide interesting accents. The necklace is completed with a pewter toggle clasp. The necklace is 20 inches in length - perfect for wearing with an open neckline or over a turtleneck sweater. 

The coordinating earrings feature 12mm and 6mm faceted round Labradorite beads and Bali style pewter accent beads.  The ear wires are sterling silver.  The earrings have a ¾ drop below the ear wire.

Labradorite is a form of feldspar which displays an optical effect referred to as "labradorescence". It is caused by the diffraction of light in the layers of rock and is seen when the stones are viewed from different angles. The Labradorite in this necklace display distinct blue and green fire. The stones are neither treated nor enhanced. Labradorite was initially discovered in Labrador, Canada.

According to an Eskimo legend, the Northern Lights are captured in Labradorite. This belief is not surprising given the iridescent color display in this stone. Labradorite is also attributed to have magical protective properties which help the wearer find their true path in life. It is also thought to "bring light" to the otherwise unknown, providing the wearer with insight. Finally, Labradorite is said to bring out the positive in people and calm the emotions.

This is truly a statement necklace.

As with all of my other pieces, this necklace is strung on multistrand Beadalon beading wire. All ends are run through wire protectors, crimped, and crimp covers applied.
