Wind Gap Wines - Magnum of 2012 Sonoma Coast Syrah

Item Number: 181
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Dark and brooding summer fruits framed by fresh cut flowers and pepper (white and black). Lively and savory, but gifted with generous fruit, this medium-bodied Syrah has the wildness and savory elements you would expect from a Wind Gap Syrah but has the distinction of the 2012 growing season with supple, charming fruit.
100% Whole-Cluster, crushed by foot, natural fermentations, never racked, 18 months in all old multiple-use French Oak barrels. Bottled without any clarification.
Arguably the most important wine in our line-up, this is our attempt to showcase the glory of the cool coastal hills of western Sonoma County. This is not an attempt to create a certain style, this wine is all about delivering the flavors of this tiny slice of the rugged California coast that is so different from the sun drenched majority of this vast and magnificent golden state.
More than just the sum of its parts, the 2012 Sonoma Coast Syrah is a great example of California Syrah grown on the coastal hills of northern California. Rich, dense and tannic from the rocky Armagh Vineyard, perfumed and broad with red, blue and black flavors of Majik Vineyard and fleshy and flashy from the sandy terraces of Nellessen Vineyard. - notes from Wind Gap site
