Description
This replica of a "School Box for Master John" was taken from an 1839 book, The Joiner and Cabinet Maker. It was used by well-to-do English families who sent their children off to private boarding schools to carry the child's books. It is literally the predecessor to the modern day backpack. The box is constructed of western poplar wood which has been chemically stained and finished with hand-rubbed oil and shellac. It has the following features: - Hand cut dovetails - Cut nails - All surfaces hand planned - Solid brass hinges - Gourmet bottle of Merlot
