Duck Hunting at Private Club Near Los Banos, Calif.

Item Number: 226
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
What & Where: Be a guest for a morning duck hunt with the hosting member at a private club 5 miles east of Los Banos, Calif. The club is situated on 120 acres within the South Grasslands Water District. Mostly a Green-winged Teal shooting club, but some Blue-winged Teal, Widgeon, Gadwall, Mallard and the occasional Sprig along with Spoonies and Shovelers fly over. The canal in the front of the club has stripers and catfish if you want to do a little fishing too.
When: A hunt can be arranged for almost any weekend during the 2015-16 season, with the exception of opening and closing weekends. Traditionally the club does not have decent hunting until after Thanksgiving when there has been enough cold weather up north to move the birds south into the Grasslands area. The water situation for the upcoming season is currently undetermined, and the club does not yet know what it’s allotment will be. If unable to hunt this coming season due to a lack of water, the hunt will be honored in a future year when there is sufficient water.
Requirements: To hunt the guest must have a valid California Hunting License with a California Duck Validation and a Federal Duck Stamp on their license. If you do not have a valid license or just want to visit and experience a duck club and the hunt, you may participate but not shoot. The guest will need their own shotgun and shells, chest waders, and warm clothing. A flashlight or headlamp is recommended. You will also need to sign a liability release, and must be 18 or older.
Accommodations: The club house is 3,000 square feet with five bedrooms, newly built in 2010 and has running water, flush toilet, shower, full kitchen and central forced-air heating. Included in this package is cocktail hour and dinner at the club house on Friday night, and breakfast after the Saturday morning hunt. The hosting member’s bedroom has two bunk beds for sleeping. There is no maid service, so bring a sleeping bag or blankets.
