This ceramic vase was handbuilt by Megan Kratz at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC. It is made of white earthenware with a celedon glaze, and depicts the moment when the sepals of a flower bud open up to reveal the flower inside. It stands approximately 16 inches tall.
