BeadforLife is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and member of the Fair Trade Federation that works to fight extreme poverty in Uganda. BeadforLife provides impoverished people with the chance to earn money and change their lives. Supported by entrepreneurial training and other services, their model provides opportunities rather than hand-outs, resulting in proud, empowered women.
All jewelry is handmade from recycled paper by women in Uganda. This set from BeadforLife includes the following:
- East African Infinity Wrap Bracelet, with shades of grey and dark coral with brass beads.
- Shea Sugar Scrub: Scented with lavender & lemongrass and containing natural sugar crystals, our Shea Sugar Scrub gently exfoliates your skin. The all-natural African Shea butter used in the scrub nourishes and moisturizes your skin, leaving it soft and smooth.
BeadforLife's Beading Program provides Ugandan members with a steady source of income throughout the 18 months they are in the program. Each group receives training in how to roll beads out of recycled paper and string them into beautiful jewelry. More importantly, they receive ongoing entrepreneurial and business skills training to prepare them to launch their own sustainable business once they graduate.
