This is the 50th Anniversary of the Timken Museum of Art. 

The Timken Museum of Art is fortunate enough to have on loan from the National Gallery in London, the original Raphael, The Madonna of the Pinks, on exhibition from December 19th, 2014 through April 26th, 2015.

The masterpiece by Raphael, The Madonna of the Pinks though diminutive in size at 11 by 9 inches, stands out amongst his works as being of his greatest accomplishments. There followed more elaborate and perhaps even more sophisticated Virgin and Child paintings, but none matched the outburst of joy that illuminates The Madonna of the Pinks. It is said that The Madonna of the Pinks is to Raphael as the Mona Lisa is to Leonardo.

Coming in May through September 2015 the Timken Museum will be exhibiting The Private World of Vermeer. This exhibition will feature his Woman in Blue Reading a Letter.
