A lovely dinner for 4 at Trattoria Funistrada and 2 nights stay above the restaurant at Tiramisu Casa -- a charming rental one block from Glen Lake.

The Restaurant:

Trattoria Funistrada was opened June 26th of 2000 and is now eagerly anticipating its 14th summer season of providing Leelanau County with great Italian food!  Nestled in Burdickville on the east side of Big Glen Lake, the building itself is about 90+ years old and has always enjoyed a history of being a popular neighborhood gathering place. What started as the Glen Lake Dining room, was at one time a local’s pub; became Alfono’s in the 60’s; was The Glen Lake Inn for a solid 22 years in the 70’s & 80’s and is now Trattoria Funistrada.  One neighbor even fondly recalls a time in the 1930’s, hearing the gentlemen at the pub singing ‘You are my Sunshine’ while settling into bed in their family’s sleeping porch a few doors down. 

Owners’ Holly and Tom Reay jumped at the opportunity to purchase the building in 2000.  Both have fond memories of dining as children with their grandparents at the former Glen Lake Inn.  Having worked at multiple dining establishments in the busy ‘seasonal’ area, they felt it was time to bring back that feeling of ‘neighborhood’ dining . . . offering reservations and catering to the many local and seasonal families that return to the area generation after generation.

Together w/ their daughter Carson (14) and son Thomas III (10) the Reay family is proud of the reputation they’ve built for consistently delicious food in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Tiramisu Casa:

If you're looking for charm, convenience, and an affordable getaway near Glen Arbor and the Sleeping Bear Dunes, this may be the perfect fit for your small group or just for you! This rental is a two bedroom, one bathroom retreat over the restaurant Trattoria Funistrada, located next to Big Glen Lake, just 6 miles from downtown Glen Arbor. The restaurant is open for dinner until midnight, and there are some early morning deliveries, but the charm of the rental, as well as the one block walk to Big Glen public lake access makes it all worthwhile! Lake Michigan beaches are only 5-6 miles away, as well as wonderful hiking and biking trails with spectacular views. Boat rentals are also plentiful. 

If you're a skier, this is a wonderful area for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and other winter sports, or simply taking in lovely, snow covered views! There are ski hills just 5 miles away, and beautiful, groomed trails.

Air conditioning; Wireless and high speed internet; TV/DVD. Linens and towels provided. Nonsmoking. Outdoor table/chairs. Walk to Glen Lake access. This apartment is over a restaurant, Funistrada, which is open for dinner and closes at midnight. There are early morning deliveries. Summer rentals are Friday to Friday.
