Description
Winning bidder will receive one hour of estate and tax planning consultation from former Devotion parent Tom Marton, of Lourie and Cutler.
Lourie & Cutler focuses on providing tax, estate and business counsel.
Since its founding in 1947, Lourie and Cutler has provided expert legal advice and tax advice to individuals, families, and businesses by helping them navigate some of their most important legal issues — those involving the inevitables of life, death, and taxes.
Its attorneys are well versed in business, income, and estate tax laws. And because there are no rigid boundaries between its specialties, Lourie and Cutler provides an integrated approach to your legal challenges and opportunities — an approach not commonly found in larger law firms.
Lourie & Cutler's estate planning practice is innovative and creative. Its attorneys develop plans appropriate for each client, whether focused on planning for family, future generations, charitable institutions, or the other important people in a client’s life. Tom Marton can help pursue a wide range of estate planning strategies and vehicles. They include, for example:
- Grantor retained interest trusts, commonly known by their acronyms — GRATs, GRUTs, and QPRTs — which allow assets to be transferred to beneficiaries with significant gift tax savings.
- Family limited partnerships and family limited liability companies, which ensure centralized management of gifted assets and may be structured to take advantage of discounts and other valuation opportunities.
- Life insurance trusts, which can increase estate liquidity and avoid taxation of insurance proceeds.
- Charitable organizations, which enable our clients to meet their charitable goals, using vehicles such as private foundations, from which charitable donations may be made, or split-interest trusts (commonly known as charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts), which may provide an income stream or valuable tax benefits.
- Dynasty and generation-skipping trusts, which minimize estate taxes for current and future generations.
