Description
"Bananas and Popsicle Puddles: A Spontaneous Fairytale"
8 1/2" x 11" linen bound, type set and illustrated book
Dan's 3rd grade class collaborated on a spontaneous oral fairytale. The free verse of this book was a group effort. The class sat in a circle and one student began the story and each student added to it, introducing characters, actions and settings until every student had had a turn.
The oral fairytale was recorded by the teacher Dan Osborne and transcribed by Jes Wade and Madeleine Clark-Wade. Jes Wade type set and printed the text onto archival art paper and each student to illustrated in colored pencil and ink their segment of the story. Once the book was complete the archival papers were passed to art book binder Richard O'Russa who created a stab binding on a red linen cover featuring gold letterpress. The final page is signed by every student.
Truly a work of art and labor of love this original edition art book is a beautiful keep sake full of incredible imagination and creativity... it will be cherished and passed down through the generations.
And since we know one of these is not enough, Jes Wade will be printing full color paperback copies of "Bananas and Popsicle Puddles: A Spontaneous Fairytale" through www.lulu.com. A perfect gift for your family and friends. The price will be $20 per book with the entire proceeds (approximate $10+) going to the Spruce Street School PTA. To order copies you will need to sign up at the Gala on Saturday or email jessica@jeswade.com with "Bananas" in the subject line and please be sure to include the quantity of books you would like.
