FOUNDATIONS COURSE:


All new members of CrossFit Wall Street must complete the Foundations Course before joining group classes.


Whether you’re in top shape, generally active, or a couch potato, CrossFit is right for you and The Foundations Course is the place to start. Our Foundations Course consists of 4 one-hour training sessions, based on your personal skill level, with one of our World Class Instructors.


Our Course is designed to get you up to speed on the basic elements of CrossFit; the proper form and technique of the exercises that we use, the philosophy of the CrossFit Program, and the Nutritional strategies we have utilized to elicit peak performance.


During these 4 One-on-One sessions your coach will ramp up the intensity based on your abilities, and analyze your movements to create a mobility and recovery program to improve your performance, safety, and flexibility.


At CrossFit Wall Street we don’t do Easy! You won’t find exercise machines, treadmills, TV’s or mirrors -- we use old school barbells, dumbbells, running, rowing, pull-ups and kettle bells to deliver true functional fitness. We believe that intensity is the key and that performance is the goal. Our diverse community is incredibly supportive and friendly, and the workouts are extremely rewarding. There’s no reason to be nervous. This was new to all of us at some point!

CrossFit is a high intensity workout program that combines the elements of weight lifting, cardiovascular training and calisthenics for an amazing workout!

The CrossFit program was developed by a personal trainer and former gymnast, Greg Glassman. Mr. Glassman started the first CrossFit gym in 1995 in Santa Cruz, California. He found that by focusing on all of the various skills of both sport and fitness --- and constantly varying the exercises, he, and his clients got stronger, faster and more “Fit”.

Coach Glassman started by identifying the skills of athletics, namely; Cardiovascular/respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy. He reasoned that if a fitness program addressed all ten elements, his clients could develop the greatest physical competency. Next, he assembled an extensive list of exercise movements that would help an individual improve these characteristics. He selected the most efficient and effective exercises from the realms of Power Lifting, Gymnastics, Running, Calisthenics, Rowing and Olympic Weightlifting and began to create combinations which he called the WOD, or Workout of the Day.

The challenge of learning a new exercise or improving one’s proficiency lit a spark for the early CrossFitters. Word of mouth spread and soon people from all around the area flocked to Glassman’s gym. With the advent of the Internet, Coach Glassman’s CrossFit program has developed a worldwide following, and his open source web site continues to educate and motivate. Check it out at Crossfit.com

The beauty of CrossFit is that the workouts are appropriate for anyone with a desire to improve their current level of fitness. A certified CrossFit Trainer can instruct you in the correct technique for each exercise and coach you thru the WOD, Workout of the Day. Young or older, athlete or couch-potato, CrossFit can help you achieve your fitness goals.

There is a $1.00 shipping and handling fee for mailed items. Items will be mailed after scheduled pick up days. Pick up dates and times will be announced soon and will be the week after our event on May 9th 2015. Pick up location is at Spruce Street School (PS 397), 12 Spruce Street, NYC 10038. We are not responsible for items if you do not pick up during allotted pick up times and if no mailing arranged.
