From the publisher

This new full-size color guide expands Fodor’s coverage of outstanding wineries and restaurants as well as the increasing number of other activities beyond vineyard visits. Fodor’s writer Daniel Mangin combed Napa and Sonoma for the best wineries, restaurants, and lodgings, adding more rising stars as well as longtime favorites.

TOP PICKS AND ITINERARIES: The “Experience Napa & Sonoma” chapter includes top winery recommendations, top activity picks, a food overview, and winery-touring itineraries.

ILLUSTRATED FEATURES: An illustrated special chapter, “Visiting the Wineries”, provides a step-by-step look at wine touring and wine production from field to bottle, along with tips for tasting and a “winespeak” glossary to help tasters get the most out of any visit.

INDISPENSABLE TRIP PLANNING TOOLS: This guide includes everything travelers need to plan a great trip, including “Top Experiences”, “Top Wineries”, “When to Go”, “Great Itineraries”, and “Best Bets” suggestions for tours, wine tastings, food-pairing experiences, and setting.  Chapters feature “Great Drives”, too.

DISCERNING RECOMMENDATIONS: Fodor’s Napa & Sonoma offers savvy advice and recommendations to help travelers make the most of their time. Fodor’s Choice designates our best picks, from hotels to nightlife.

INCLUDES: Napa, Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga, Sonoma, Healdsburg, Geyserville, and more.

ABOUT OUR WRITER: Daniel Mangin returned to California, where he’s maintained a home for three decades, after two stints at the Fodor’s editorial offices in New York City, the second one as the Editorial Director of Fodors.com and the Compass American Guides. While at Compass he was the series editor for the California Wine Country guide and commissioned the Oregon Wine Country and Washington Wine Country guides. Daniel also coauthored the most recent (2015) Central Coast and Napa-Sonoma-Mendocino editions of The California Directory of Fine Wineries.
