Alice Sparberg Alexiou, author of
The Flatiron: The New York Landmark and the Extraordinary City That Arose With it, will offer a tour of the iconic building. (Her Hungarian grandfather bought a percentage of it in 1944, which her family held for 50 years.)

 

Afterward, Alice will treat the participants to eggcreams across the street at Eisenberg’s Sandwich Shop, an old-time New York lunch counter.

 

Alice Sparberg Alexiou is a contributing editor at Lilith, and the author also of
Jane Jacobs: Urban Visionary. She is currently writing a book about the Bowery.
