Description

Garde de la Mer combines classic French coastal fare with modern
American technique in a contemporary French bistro.

Located within the ProvidenceG, and part of the properties historic transformation, Garde de la Mer has truly emerged as a butterfly. The restaurant lies within the space that once was the uniquely shaped Teste building built in 1860 and the adjacent empty ally way between the Providence Gas Building (1920) and the Teste Block. Now the space features a combination of the original narrow first floor and a vaulted wooden ceiling two stories high in the former ally space between the buildings. Adorned with crisp white walls, glossy black subway tile, golden upholstered banquets and booths and vintage touches of exposed brick, traditional wainscoting, brass and original windows; the decor is fresh and clean while still paying homage to the origins.

Garde de la Mer features a seasonal menu of local fresh seafood with a traditional coastal French inspiration. Using a combination of both classic and modern American technique fresh local ingredients are brought in daily and then transformed into composed dishes by the culinary team. Every plate acts as a work of art for guests to first eat visually and then indulge with each proceeding bite. To pair with the menu, guests are then invited to choose from either a wine list featuring over 200 selections of regional wines including many old and new world favorites, as well as cocktail list of contemporary mixology. The experience that is dining at Garde de la Mer is truly unique and not to be missed.
