CRANIOSACRAL INTEGRATION

Craniosacral system move in a rhythmic, pulsing motion due to the ebb and flow of the cerebrospinal fluid within the membranes. This motion is called the Craniosacral Rythm it can be felt anywhere on the body. Problems within the Craniosacral system can be detected by monitoring the qualities of this rythmn  and determining the locations of restricted motion. Locations can range from within the system itself or can be found anywhere within the connective tissue network of the body. Craniosacral therapy treats restrictions by gently manipulating and freeing the connective tissue that surrounds the brain, spinal cord, organs, muscles and bone structure of the body.

As membrane restriction are released and the body begins to return to optimal functioning, many possible sensations may occur. This release may be felt as relaxation, heat or pulsing. Memories of trauma and injury are often stored in the connective tissue of the body.  Sometimes the release is accompanied by an emotion or memory related to the original cause of the restriction.  When this happens I work with the client to unwind the restriction withbreathwork and visualization. To allow the expression of these patterns of tissue memory often reducing the level of pain or dysfunction in the area involved.
