CLASS STRUCTURE
All classes are one hour and have no more than 10 students. Dancers should wear clothes to move in, such as leotards, leggings, shorts, t-shirts, or tank tops.
CORE CLASSES
Core dance classes at The Minneapolis Performing Arts Center are recital-based classes. We offer core classes in ballet/tap, jazz, hip-hop and acro. Core classes are primarily focused on learning proper technique; this is done through barre work, exercises center, and down the floor. Students in core classes learn basic dance etiquette and terminology, build strength, and gain flexibility, and grow in confidence.
DROP-IN TECHNIQUE CLASSES
MPAC also offers weekly open classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, acro, and yoga for dancers. Drop-in technique classes are designed for students who want to work year-round on solid technique, strength, and skills without a commitment. These classes are for children ages 7-18, performance teams, and adults. Drop-in classes are taken when the student is able, and these students do not perform in the recital.
