Description

How would you like nine days in England, staying in the places Greg, Laurel and Betsy take the seniors on their trip to Europe every spring? Betsy will be your travel agent for this, and book you into each place according to where you would like to go. If you have free miles, this auction item will be especially intriguing, but it is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be able to have an England adventure and stay with these people who over the years have become our friends. They have all donated their charming accommodations as a benefit to our Nomad Purchase drive. Offer good from September 2015 through May 2016.

Three nights at Temple Lodge, Hammersmith, LondonTemple Lodge is a simple, quiet, B+B with delicious organic breakfasts and friendlyhosts. It is within walking distance of the Hammersmith Tube stop, and therefore accessible to almost anywhere you want to go in London. If the weather is nice, you can walk down the road and have brunch at one of the many pubs on the Thames River. The three-night accommodation includes one meal for two at the Gate Restaurant which is on the property of Temple Lodge. The Gate is a gourmet vegetarian restaurant with a unique and varied menu. It also includes tickets to a show of your choice while in London.

Three nights at Cymbeline B+B in Stratford, England

A pair of tickets to the play of your choice comes with this package. Cymbeline is a charming B+B with traditional English breakfasts and small, beautifully decorated rooms that put you back into the days of the Victorians. You might look at the beds, in comparison to the large King size beds that you find at a large American Hotel and wonder how you are going to fit there, but Greg Fisher gets good sleep there, so, no worries! The acquaintance of Linda and Keith who own and run the B+B are worth the whole trip. We rent a car to get up to Stratford which you will need for the rest of this journey, so we can give you a recommendation if you would like it.

Three nights at The Coach House B+B Dulcote (near Wells).

This is a really lovely B+B, but it can also be what the English call “Self –Catering” if you want to cook for yourself. There is a kind of guesthouse on the property which is both elegant, private and really comfortable. While we stuff it full of students, if there are just two of you, you will have a bedroom and a living room at your disposal. Dulcote is a sleepy, traditional English village, and if you want to leave your car and walk to Wells, you can do so over the stiles of Shakespeare’s day, through the fields dotted with grazing cows. Betsy can give you all kinds of tips on how you might want to spend your time in Dulcote, and, it is driving distance to many famous places, Avebury, Glastonbury, Cheddar and Salisbury among them. Your host Karen at the Coach House has become one of our English friends.

Three Nights at Cabilla Manor on the Bodmin Moor, Cornwall

No trip to England would be complete without a visit to Cornwall. You actually might want to dig into your pocket and add a couple of nights to this stay. Cornwall is like a different country, and there is so much to see and do. And this place is extraordinary. It is owned by extraordinary people! Google Robin Hanbury-Tenison and you will find descriptions of this published author and world-famous explorer. His wife, Louella, herself connected through her family with the history of England, once served as honorary High Sherriff of Bodmin! You will have the most delicious breakfasts of your life, the conversation with Louella and Robin will be a memorable event, and if you wish, Louella will also make you dinner—for worthwhile additional cost. Louella and Robin owned the Chapel that we rented for many years, and although they sold it recently, we will still visit them for tea at their B+B, one of the highlights of the Cornwall trip.
