Lucky Bird Reliquary Necklace Reliquarie; containers for holy relics; inspired this delicate necklace. As the mother of two young children, I am enamored of every lock of hair clipped from my daughters heads, and little bits of paper on which they scrawl notes to me. I wanted to create jewelry to hold these precious artifacts close to my heart; to liberate them from the boxes where they were accumulating. Because 19th century art and design have always inspired my imagination, this necklace is a little bit gothic, a little bit Victorian, with its ovoid shape and black enameled surface. The necklace is fabricated from sterling silver that has been very lightly oxidized, and depicts an enigmatic illustration of a bird with a ribbon in its beak. The hand-hammered back of the oval features an opening; with tweezers, you may insert a token of significance: a lock of hair, a note, or a quotation rolled into a tiny scroll. It is intended to capture mementos you wish to hold near and dear; wear it often, and in great health and happiness! Stacey Loriinczi began her exploration of jewelry as a Belvoir camper.
