Eco Friendly Traditional Japanese Wrapping Cloth

Item Number: 302
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
This is a traditional furoshiki or japanese wrapping cloth. It was made in Japan of 100% handwoven peach silk that has been naturally dyed in the traditional way using the safflower or Benibana flower. Back before it was cool to reuse/recycle, the Japanese were using reusable, beautiful textiles to wrap gifts, carry groceries & babies among many, many other things. The technique of wrapping these versatile cloths is enjoying a new popularity as an alternative to wrapping paper. Using fabric gift wrap reduces waste and increases the value of your gift.
It is presented in a paulownia wooden box. The making of these boxes is an art in itself and is perfect for storing textiles as it is naturally insect-deterrant and flame resistant.
