Gary Carlson is a seasoned artist who draws much of his

inspirations from observing God’s creation. He has a special

passion for depicting the beauty and splendor of Minnesota’s

landscapes using the mediums of watercolor, pencil and oil pastels.

His background includes a BA in Art-Augsburg College, Masters

in Education-St. Thomas and a Graphic Art Certification from U of

MN. He has worked teaching junior high art class for 10+ years

and was the Art Director for Billy Graham’s Decision Magazine

for 17 years. He was among the pioneers of MN parents when he

and his wife Bonnie chose to begin homeschooling in 1984. They

continued this tradition of homeschooling with all five of their

children and became involved with the Hand in Hand program in

2002 with their youngest son. Gary continues to serve as Chaplain

and Board Member of Hand in Hand and now his grandchildren

attend as students as well.
