Description

Title & Artist:  "Robocod" – by Chris Clark

Medium & Size:  Plywood base, acrylic paint, miscellaneous electronics and mechanisms salvaged from laptop computers, ink jet printers, monitors, etc.  22" L x 9 1/2" H x 1" D.  For indoor display only.

Artist Statement:  Our natural world is being crowded out and lost at an alarming rate, whether by willful destruction of habitat and population or by benign neglect imposed by humanity’s desire for the "next big thing". As we march toward true artificial intelligence, total interconnectedness, and possibly The Singularity, we must remember the world we’re rapidly leaving behind. We can’t eat silicon—yet.

Artist Biography:  Chris is a graphic designer by trade, a husband and father by life. He’s dabbled in woodturning, mountain biking, neon sculpture, acting, stunt kites, sailing, letterpress printing, flying, home renovation, tall ship crewing, and probably a few other things at one time or another. It’s unlikely he’ll ever take up competitive eating, but being only 52, there’s still plenty of time.

Hosting Business:  "Robocod" is on display at National Grand Bank, 91 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA. On July 1, this cod will be moved to St. Michael’s Church, 26 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA.
