Description

Title & Artist:  "Fish and Ships" – by Elaine Abrams

Medium & Size:  Watercolor and gouache on wood.  21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D.  For indoor display only.

Artist Statement:  My painting began with a passion for Oriental art and has evolved into a love of watercolor. My technique is very wet and loose with hints of impressionism, abstraction, and the Orient. The results are scenes that are obvious but with little detail and much room for the viewer to wander. They are colorful yet subtle. I seek to find the essence in any subject and most often turn to nature and land, sea, and cityscapes.

I find beauty in brushes, and joy in the flow and mingling of water and paint on paper as surprising variations of colors and shapes are formed. I look forward to painting more scenes throughout New England as well as depicting more from photos of my travels in Europe, Asia, Israel, and Latin America.
