Artist Statement: As a contemporary realist painter, I create studies in observation—still-life set-ups of familiar objects that are deceptively simple, yet complex. I challenge myself to translate the perceived three-dimensional world to a 2D field by observing and capturing the conditions of light, form, color, and space through the painterly properties of oil paint.
Artist Biography: A resident of Marblehead, Kaufman is a member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston, North Shore Arts Association, Rockport Art Association, and Marblehead Arts Association and has been a frequent exhibitor and award winner in greater Boston-area exhibits. She is also an oil painting instructor.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in Fine Art, Kaufman worked as a commercial artist in New York City and Boston, followed by a career as marketing executive/creative director of a national healthcare technology company.
Kaufman has studied painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and she completed a postbaccalaureate residency program in painting at Brandeis University. Her studio practice is in Marblehead.
Hosting Business: "Atlantic Cod" is on display at Marblehead Bank, 21 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, MA. On July 1, this cod will be moved to Abbot Hall, 188 Washington St., Marblehead, MA.
Special Instructions
Winning bidder will receive a notification email with information on pick-up time and location.
If winning bidder requires shipping, winner's credit card will be charged a separate $24.95 fee to cover USPS ground and handling. Shipping is available within the U.S. only and must be requested within 7 days after receipt of the notification email.
Any cod purchased via "Buy Now" will remain on display at the hosting business through the end of the auction, and will be available for pick-up as detailed in the winning bidder notification email.
If winning bidder has not picked up cod (or provided shipping address) within 30 days after the close of the auction, cod will become the property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
