SF Chronicle Top 100 Restaurant, 2014! Located in Oakland's Uptown neighborhood, Hopscotch looks like a diner with red leatherette and chrome, but the food is a culinary mash-up of American classics and Asian sensibilities. Chef/owner Kyle Itani, who worked at both Ozumo in San Francisco and the Meatball Shop in New York, embellishes the hamburger - one of the best around - like you've never tasted.
