Cisco Lindsey began his art career with commercial art courses in 1948 while still in high school, after which he studied and worked as a protégé of wood sculptor Joseph Goethe in Monterey, California. Drafted into the military in 1952, Lindsey worked as an illustrator for the U. S. Army during the Korean War. After discharge, he studied sculpture at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D. C. Beginning in 1956, he worked for 34 years for New York publisher McGraw-Hill, Inc., raised two boys with his wife Anne, and retired from McGraw-Hill as an editorial vice-president in 1990. He continued to work in Atlanta for ten more years as a management consultant. Lindsey moved to Isle of Palms in 1997 and resumed his art career in 1999, studying with lowcountry artists Rhett Thurman, William Jameson and Elizabeth Bronson. He is an exhibiting member of the Charleston Artist Guild and the Mount Pleasant Artist Guild, and served as president of the Charleston Artist Guild in 2006-2007.
