Description
November 13, 2015. Enjoy a one night stay at the brand new luxury boutique Grand Bohemian Hotel on Wentworth Street in downtown Charleston.
Also included is a dinner for two with visiting French artist, Jean Claude Roy at Élevé, the Grand Bohemian Hotel rooftop restaurant. The guests will join the artist and other dinner guests for an exclusive event including a four-course menu with wine pairings. Guests will also have a chance to preview Roy’s new exhibition at the Grand Bohemian Gallery. The gallery exclusively represents Roy in the United States.
Born on the west coast of France, Jean Claude Roy describes himself as an “expressionist-colourist” who works most often in oil with a pallet knife. He knew from a very young age that he would be an artist. As a child he was encouraged in this pursuit by his art collecting grandfather. As a teenager, he joined the merchant marine training which led to many years spent at sea and in coastal harbors such as St. John’s in Newfoundland. It was there that he found an interest in landscape. Roy eventually returned to his childhood home in France, but continued his ties to Newfoundland. He now splits his time between the two countries.
