Karen Lorena Parker was born in South America and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Before becoming an artist, Karen Parker went to school to study art. She worked in a hospital and also worked in marketing as a graphic artist and in film studios before her career in the arts picked up. She knew how competitive the art world was but still made up her mind in high school that she wanted to be an artist. Karen even sold her high school paintings. During her journey in art school, Karen was interested in figurative, nudes and abstract art. She has worked with mediums like graphic art, 3-D models, sculpting and anything else she could try to help her improve.
