The Advocate is a gathering place located in Berkeley’s historic Elmwood neighborhood, inhabiting a portion of the former Wright’s Garage building (circa 1918). It is the second restaurant from the owners of the critically-acclaimed Mexican joint Comal in Downtown Berkeley.

With the same owners as Comal in Downtown Berkeley, the Advocate serves Northern Californian cuisine with influences from Mediterranean and North African cooking, The Advocate offers a variety of wood-fired dishes such as delicious flatbreads, a wood-grilled burger with rosemary grilled onions, lettuce, and aioli, as well as the chickpea and clam fritters. Now offering brunch, a few favorites are the avocado toast, the sticky buns with candied walnuts and dates, and the house baked lavender honey scone served with strawberry jelly.
