Description

A great collectors piece, cylinders like this one were used in Burma to hold letters between senior monks, or official documents such as diplomas. In the past, these letter tubes most likely held documents written on dried, cut palm leaves.

One end is closed and the other has a removable cap. The tube is in black lacquer incised in gold with Burmese creatures surrounded by floral motifs.

* There are a very few minor imperfections visible upon close inspection.
