Ellen Gibson holds a B.A. in Art History & Ceramics from Boston University and an MFA in Sculpture from Mass College of Art & Design.  She is currently on the Board of Directors for the Timber Framers Guild and is the Executive Director of Vaughan Woods & Historic Homestead in Hallowell, Maine.

My studio is filled with parts and pieces of sculptures and objects in general that hide behind each other and appear or get pulled out as they are needed. Sculptures get reworked, parts exchanged and new purposes discovered.  “Zarafa” – Arabic for Giraffe – was hidden away unfinished in the loft of my studio. It’s part of a series of figures and animals that got stashed away during a move and are now resurfacing.
