William D. Gibson holds a B.A. degree with a major in Art from Brown University. He pursued some creative activities, including his initial attempts at painting, after his retirement from commercial banking. He began to exhibit his fledgling work in 2012, with a first prize in the acrylic category of the Taunton Art Association Fall Art Show, and later exhibits at the Greater Fall River Art Association, the Massasoit Community College Arts Festival and the AAM.
In “Manhattan from Brooklyn II,” the artist imagined a sunset outlining the Manhattan skyline dotted with lights rising from the East River. He wanted to set a tone in acrylic, depicting the calmness in the deepening, darkening and changing hues of sunlight over the gentle waves of the river.
