The piece,“Indivisible,” is from a series investigating relationships between nature and human nature. The painting is executed in egg tempera with oil glazes and silverpoint, as well as white gold leaf. Both egg tempera and silverpoint are two archaic media, which were once utilized with perfection by the Renaissance painters. The painting is created by mixing dry pigments with egg yolk in the classical method of egg tempera. The work utilizes a detailed pencil drawing, as well as subsequent graded ink wash values before the actual application of color. Silverpoint is achieved by using a metalpoint, which leaves a marking due to the abrasiveness of the gesso surface.
