A sculpture created in 2015 by Christopher Frost of Somerville, MA from pieces of a Boston Common English Elm. Other materials include porcelain, and paint.

A note from the Artist, Chris Frost:

While working on the concept for this sculpture, to be constructed of wood from two of the grand trees of the Boston Common, I was consistently drawn to the passage of time. The span of history witnessed by these trees was a period stretching from Colonial America to present day.

There are many elements of Ulmus Boogie Woogie that reference this historical interval. There are nods to Colonial and modern histories, as well as influences of a diverse American culture, with European and Asian accents. Anchoring the whole work is the reincarnation of the tree, the ultimate focal point.

 About the Artist:

Chris Frost is a sculptor living and working in Somerville, MA. His work has been exhibited and collected in museums and art institutions throughout the New England area. His indoor and outdoor sculpture is part of many private and corporate collections.

He began his education at Bates College in Lewiston, ME and then to Parsons School of Design, Paris, France. He received a masters degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
