Houston Dairymaids is a cheese shop that meets artisan American cheese-makers, learns about their craft, and brings the best of their products to you.  They look for cheeses naturally made by hand and, when possible, from unpasteurized milk.  After primarily selling wholesale since 2007, they officially opened their Heights shop to the public full-time in February 2012.  Each day they offer a free tasting of six cheeses, the selection of which covers a range of styles, milks, and origins, and acts as an introduction to their collection of over 150 cheeses.  Houston Dairymaids feature mostly American-made cheeses, and highlight Texas cheeses.  Occasionally, they sneak in an imported cheese they can't resist.  All cheese is cut and wrapped fresh to your specifications.

To complement the cheeses, they also carry fresh bread from Slow Dough Bakery, honey, olives, American-made salami, and other cheese accompaniments.  They also have a great selection of cheese-friendly wines and beer.  On Wino Wednesdays, they pair a wine or beer with the cheese tasting and offer 10% off all purchases of alcohol.
