Description
This exciting auction item is a beautiful framed and matted original watercolor by well-known New England artist Bill Harland.
The painting measures 10" x 14", its framed size is 17" x 21," and the image is a scene near the Town Dock in Cape Porpoise, Maine.
Bill Harland, a Littleton native, nothing takes the place of painting life as it unfolds around him. He swiftly produces the emotion and beauty of the moment, with his direct, naturalistic painting approach. A 1970 graduate of the Vesper George School of Art in Boston, Bill continued study at Fenway studios, and the MFA in Boston. He has exhibited widely in festivals and conducts workshops in water color painting.
Bill believes that in painting, like poetry, the real beauty lies in simplicity; stripping a statement down to its simplest form to make the most impact. The intense display of light, form, and color give his paintings a unique luminosity and richness. Whether he is painting from the model, the landscape, or in studio, Bill's distinctive style touches each subject.
