About Dan (from his website):

"Dan has made his living solely from his art since he was 19 years old. He has a background in painting, illustration, design and caricature spanning over 30 years. A graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, he would draw at over 200 events per year and anywhere from 12 to 20 people per hour for events. This was his Karate Kid, “Wax on, wax off” ninja training. Yeah… he can draw a face pretty fast!

He has won numerous national awards and been commissioned to draw caricatures and portraits for the likes of President George H. W. Bush, Sting, Simon Cowell, and Jimmy Buffett, just to name a few. His portrait of the Columbia astronauts hangs at NASA.

After many years as a caricaturist and illustrator, Dan was inspired by the work of the late, great, original speed painter, Denny Dent. Dan rented a storage warehouse, draped it in plastic and began to throw some paint. He rehearsed for 9 months before he had his first show. It was his stunning performance at an event in Atlantic City that first brought international attention to the classically trained painter.

Overwhelmed by the crowd’s reaction to the unique show, Dan’s daughter posted a recording of the sensational footage on YouTube. It wasn’t long before PAINTJAM went viraland received millions of hits and garnered the painter widespread acclaim!

At its peak he was the 45th most viewed video on Youtube and was getting 85,000 views per hour. Dan often says the three fastest forms of communication are “telephone, television and tell a teenager!” Yeah, no kidding! Dan’s kids say he’s not really famous. “Just youtube famous. Like a talking dog.” Dan replies with a resounding “Woof!”

Always careful not to splash paint on their already colorful personas, he did get paint on Dita Von Teese’s $1000 pair of pants once. But the dry cleaners got it out. He has traveled to more than 27 countries and has raised over 2 million dollars for charities from the sale of his paintings!

He currently lives in Houston, Texas with his wife Cindy. They have five beautiful, intelligent, hilarious children and several dogs and cats.
