This is a lovely bit of Victorian whimsey-a long gold plated pin with birds and flowers.  Damascene is the use of gold and silver leaf over a black steel surface.  This also has the most ingenious clasp, which Nina Marshtein can explain to you after your sucessful purchase.  A really lovely little treasure.
